Graham Rowntree leaves Harlequins after two seasons

Graham Rowntree has left the post of Harlequins forwards coach for “personal reasons”.

As recently as this January, Harlequins announced that the former England coach had signed a contract extension. However, Rowntree has chosen to end his two-year stay at the club after a season in which Harlequins recorded a 10th-place Premiership finish – their worst league return since being relegated to the Championship in 2005.

Rowntree featured in 54 Tests for England and three more for the British and Irish Lions as a prop, appearing at two Rugby World Cups in 1995 and 1999.  He has also coached on the last three Lions tours, overseeing the scrum under Warren Gatland in New Zealand last summer.
